A natural healthy well balanced diet is needed for strong bones and teeth. The jaw bone requires all the nutrients starting from an early age and has to be maintained throughout life.

The essential nutrients required for teeth and bones are:

  1. Calcium: About 700 mg of calcium is required for adults to have strong teeth and bones. The sources of calcium are milk, cheese, curds, tofu, and nuts.
  2. Vitamin D: Vitamin D is required for bones and teeth. The sources of vitamin D are oily fish such as salmon, mackerel; eggs, powdered milk and fortified breakfast cereals.

These teeth are more prone to decay over a period of time. Apples and other antioxidant rich fruits are healthy for teeth as they delay the plaque formation. Their chewing action increases the saliva production which has a bathing and cleansing action on the teeth.
